CANCER IS A RARE occurrence in children and adolescents, accounting for 1% of all newly diagnosed cancers in the United States. However, it’s the leading cause of diseaserelated
deaths among children ages 1 to 19 in the United States. A cancer diagnosis evokes much fear and anxiety in parents and caregivers, but early diagnosis and treatment can result in improved patient outcomes.
